Laura Kedzlie art painting

My story

Hi, I'm Laura, founder of Laura Kedzlie Art and resident painter. I've always loved to paint, but a career in the Corporate world for 20 years meant this became little more than painting walls whilst renovating our home. Realising I needed to bring some creativity back into my life, which in turn helped calm my mind, I started painting again and at the end of 2023 I decided to follow my dream and setup Laura Kedzlie Art, selling original, contemporary oil and acrylic art paintings.

I live in Buckinghamshire, so many of my paintings have been inspired by the beautiful Chiltern woodland and surrounding countryside. I also have strong ties to Bridport in Dorset, an artistic treasure trove, with a stunning coastline that has provided a strong influence on modern art paintings such as "Colmers Hill" and "Deep Blue'.

I tend to develop a series of work (anywhere up to 20 paintings) and then take a break from that theme for a short while, to ensure that my work doesn't get too stagnated or forced. On this website you can view paintings in each of the series by clicking on the "Originals" tab and then selecting one of the series (for example "Sky series" to view all paintings within that subject).

Painting the "Nature" series has been really enjoyable, as I feel the paintings have a dream-like, ethereal and calm element to them. As a mum of two boys, peace and tranquility aren't necessarily daily experiences for me!

My "Contemporary" art series is much more abstract in style than either the "Nature" or "Sea" series paintings. Here the pieces having been worked up with texture and layers of acrylic paint, to create a sense of depth and movement within the pieces. All my paintings are original pieces and are hand signed by myself before being sent out. All of my paintings also include a certificate of authenticity.

My studio is in my home in South Bucks and I always welcome people to come and view a painting before making a decision on purchasing.

The beautiful lush, green woodland that forms The Chilterns, is a big inspiration for many of my pieces.

I often walk in the middle of the day, however paintings such as 'Through the mist' and 'First Light' were developed after early morning walks around Wynchmore Hill when the sun was rising and the atmosphere had a dream-like quality.

The infamous bluebells that flower once a year at Hodgemoor Woods were incredible this year and the pops of purple have followed through into several paintings, including some sky scenes, where i have painted bright purple skies. The most obvious influence is in my appropriately named 'Bluebells at Hodgemoore' oil painting.

The sunsets in Dorset, specifically Bridport are some of the most incredible ones I have witnessed and so photos like this have been instrumental in shaping paintings from the 'Sky' series.

I paint from memory generally, but used the photo to steer the direction of several sky paintings, which have incorporated neon orange and yellow into the colour scheme.
